Nano Technology
Even a small concentration of nanoparticles would be sufficient in improving the tribological conditions of the bearings or gears where used. When the loads between the sliding particles in high , presence of nanoparticles help in keeping their shapes intact by a coating of nanoparticles with the solid lubricant used such as Molybdenum Disulphide or Mos2 or Tungsten Disulphide by making deposits on the crest of the surface roughness and reduce direct contact between the asperities or metal to metal contact thus minimising wear reducing temperatures and increasing the life of the equipment as well as the lubricant used.
Grease Anatomy
As this definition indicates, there are three components that form a lubricating grease. These components are oil, thickener and additives. The base oil and additive package are the major components in grease formulations, and as such, exert considerable influence on the behavior of the grease. The thickener is often referred to as a sponge that holds the lubricant (base oil plus additives).
